We are thrilled to release our new, limited release Mayfield Premier Wines. These Reserve wines are made from stunning parcels of grapes from our vineyard. With an elevation of over 900m, these limited release wines showcase the best varieties from Orange – Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.

The two Chardonnays capture differing parcels of fruit. Although located near each other, the wines express their own terroir. We are delighted to release these wines in the cellar door and online.

Mayfield ‘Thomas’ Chardonnay 2022

This is a wine made to express the regionality of Orange. Harvested on the 5th April it was fermented in new and older French oak puncheons (500 litres) and hogsheads (300 litres). After fermentation, the lees were stirred regularly for several months to develop palate weight and texture. With 75% Malolactic fermentation, the wine was blended and returned to barrel to mature prior to bottling.

Mayfield ‘Block 14’ Chardonnay 2022

Our stunning Block 14 is a showcase of our vineyard. The grapes were fermented with 100% grape solids then transferred to a combination of new and older French oak. Fermentation was completed in barrel with lees stirring to develop complexity and texture. 50% malolactic fermentation was encouraged to complement the purity of this single Block wine.

Mayfield ‘William’ Pinot Noir 2022

100% hand harvested on the 5th April, with a component gently de-stemmed and fermented in 2 tonne open fermenters. The other portion of the grapes were fermented carbonically in an inert environment. Whole bunches were kept in the bin they were harvested in, covered and left for ten days. This resulted in a wine that’s refined with a beautiful gamey character. This component was blended back into the finished wine and matured in 25% new Ermitage Bretranges puncheons for 11 months.
