ESTABLISHMENT OF THE AWARD WINNING MAYFIELD VINEYARD
In 1998, Mayfield was acquired by the Thomas family who set about planting the first vines in 1999. A number of cool climate grape varieties were planted and the property evolved into Mayfield Vineyard. In 2004, the property was subdivided into three lots with the southern and western lots sold which reduced Mayfield from 113 to 47 hectares.
The Eastham Family acquired the property in 2021. They went on to also purchase the previously sold western lot to reunite it to Mayfield and increase the property to 91 hectares. Under their careful guidance, new plantings began in 2022 extending the vineyard to include Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Pinot Gris varieties with further plantings of new and emerging varieties also planned.
By 2023, the 2022 Mayfield ‘Block 14’ Chardonnay was awarded the Trophy for the Best NSW/ACT Chardonnay at the 2023 Melbourne Royal Wine Awards. In 2024, Mayfield was awarded 5 Stars by renowned wine critic James Halliday Wine Companion.

OUR DEDICATION TO WINEMAKING – LOW INTERVENTION & SUSTAINABILITY
Located on the eastern slopes of the ancient and extinct volcano, Mount Canobolas, we have 17 hectares of vines that sit at an elevation of 880 to 950 metres above sea level. Our varieties include Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Sauvignon Blanc, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Riesling.
From a viticulturist perspective, we strive for low-intervention grape growing and wine-making practices with sustainability at the core of every decision we make. We aim to utilise Mother Nature at every step of the growing season and believe that good canopy management is vital in producing cool climate wines that stand out from the rest.
Our winemaking philosophy is a harmonious partnership between grape growing and winemaking, striving to showcase the cool climate Orange region, our soil and the purity of our estate grown grapes. We produce true single vineyard wines with varied handling based on the vintage and maximising the integration between winemaking and grape production on a seasonal basis.
